Review Of "So Delicious Chocolate Velvet Dairy Free Ice Cream"

I’m a bit of an Ice Cream Addict. I love the taste, the coolness, the sweetness and creaminess. Absolutely love it. But I’m not too crazy about the cholesterol it dumps into my system and ultimately on the inside of my veins. They weren’t kidding when they said death by chocolate. So in a search for a healthier alternative we bought some So Delicious Organic Chocolate Velvet “Ice Cream”. This stuff has 130 calories vs the 300 for Ben and Jerry’s (B&J’s) New York Super Chunk, it has 0 mgs cholesterol vs. 35 for B&J’s and unlike B&J’s is organic, non-dairy & Vegan Certified. Wow. With those impressive stats it’s bound to taste horrible. So here’s what we found. The appearance is just like a good chocolate. The only difference we noticed was some mild crystal formation on the surface. But that wasn’t discernible in the scooped and served product. The texture was velvety and creamy….And the taste was good…Really enjoyable…Chocolate but in a cocoa sense instead of like a hard core chocolate…I guess another way to describe it was light chocolate vs. a heavy dark chocolate. This is light….A Ben & Jerry’s is dark and strong.

 Now I enjoyed the flavor, the texture and think this will make a real world substitute that will not break the bank (about the same price as Ben & Jerry’s)….In a side by side comparison the B&J’s won out. But this doesn’t change the fact that I enjoy this product very much. And with the reduced calories and NO Cholesterol…Hey, Ben & Jerry’s isn’t that good, I’m sorry but those guys are getting kicked to the curb.

 So the Organic Test Kitchen recommends this product as a buy. And this was a surprise. We were so convinced that we bought the Ben & Jerry’s as a back up so we’d have some good ice cream after we threw the So Delicious away (which by the way is how we were able to do a side by side comparison). Buttt…as described above, see ya.. Ben & Jerry’s. And by the way, we’re talking an Organic Product without all those adders such as Pesticides and Chemical Residues….Yea..And Vegan Certified for those who follow this lifestyle. Nice.
