In our Nature's Path Hemp Plus Frozen Wafflessearch of convenience food that’s organic we ran across a box of Nature’s Path Hemp Plus Waffles..Since a review of the out of the ordinary may help our readers expand their culinary horizons we took a chance and bought a box. Here’s what we found…

  •  The Nature’s Path Frozen Waffles were packaged in a plastic wrap. The kind that tears easily…So it’s difficult or near impossible to reseal once you’ve broken into it. We didn’t like this too much. We took out two waffles and stored the rest in a plastic storage container.
  • Cooked on the low/frozen setting on the toaster. They came out warm but not done enough. Gave it another go round and we were good to go.
  • The taste is an extreme whole grain flavor and we liked this very much.
  • Texture was a little bit on the rubbery side but we wouldn’t have noticed if we weren’t looking for it.
  • Goes great alone or topped with butter and/or maple syrup. However, either of these need to be preheated or you’ll end up with a cold waffle and that’s no fun….Also on the same vein. We recommend cooking one and while you’re eating that put the second one in the toaster. These things must be eaten hot to be good.
  • A possible experiment would be to serve one of these with a good quality butter pecan ice cream…If we try this we’ll give you a full report.

The nutrition…well, as stated in the header these are certified organic. Nutrition, this looks pretty good (see link below)….In all we liked the earthy whole grain flavor and convenience. The nutrition looks pretty good so it might be nice to keep these in the freezer in case we have to run out the door and needed something that cooks itself as we’re getting ready.
