As you are probably aware, Christmas has been hijacked by Madison Avenue. We as a society have been
convinced that everything Christmas has to be this store bought affair. Maybe these are the same geniuses who got the chemicalized, colorized and preservativized “food” to be considered conventional while the real organic food made by mother nature from air, water & sunshine to be unusual and even a bit “kooky”.
Well, we can start taking back our food and our holidays a little bit at a time. One such step is to make “old school” garland…Using thread, a needle, natural popcorn and cranberries. Just make up a bowl of popcorn, when done let it cool (actually several hours of sitting is best..the popcorn will start to toughen up). Then just get your needle and thread… pierce the popcorn kernels and push them along the thread. Every so often, add a cranberry. When you’re finished just let a section of thread hang or you can knot it (either way the popcorn isn’t going anywhere).
String on the tree. It looks beautiful, natural … and real. But be careful, unless you’re sure that nothing from young children to animals can’t eat this just skip the garland and move on to making some Christmas Pine cones or something.. Remember safety first.
Beautiful Christmas Popcorn Garland…No petroleum, no factory emissions, no transportation resource consumption & completely recyclable.
