Had a hankering for some chocolate today, .. actually was sauntering around the organic isle at the local grocery when I saw someone offering samples of dark chocolate, .. like a little kid, I see it and I want it. So anyway, bought a Newman’s Own Organic Sweet Dark Chocolate Bar. And since I’m staying away from dairy and gluten first checked the label. This thing contains Organic Dark Chocolate (Organic Sugar, Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin and Organic Vanilla). It looks good on the surface but they add that it may be processed on equipment that handles products containing peanuts, other nuts, milk powder, wheat, soy and eggs. So if you’re severely allergic to any of these foods it’s best to stay away. You should also read the label for yourself in case anything changes.

So I buy the chocolate for $1.99, break off a piece even before reaching the truck and oh yeah, just melting in my mouth. Not too sweet and a nice intense but not bitter chocolate flavor. This stuff is darn good. So a big thumbs up on this one. Also, as you probably know, Newman’s gives away significant profits to charity. The label says they gave away over $150 Million since 1982. This goes to show that if you need to treat yourself there’s a right way to do it. The only problem is stopping before you wolf down the whole thing. For instance, I have this bar in front of me now so I can get the ingredients right for this post. .. And it’s talking to me,  and I’m listening. .. Breaking off “one last piece” over and over until there’s only one more left and that will soon be toast.
