Croutons can really jazz up a salad. There you are .. fresh greens, tomatoes, maybe grating some cheese right on top, .. homemade dressing you just put together and then …………. Out Of The Bag Croutons!! .. Stop!, and back away from the salad.
Make your croutons fresh and up to par with the level of the rest of your culinary masterpiece. Here’s how..
- Set the oven rack to the middle position and preheat your oven to 350F
- Take out a baking sheet
- Thinly slice then cube a Loaf of Fresh Organic French Bread/Baguette or Italian Bread and set aside
- In a medium bowl add 1/2 Cup of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- If you like Garlic add a small amount of Organic Garlic Oil to the bowl )to suit your taste but be careful to go easy with this you can overdo it without trying)
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of Sea Salt to the bowl
- Grind in some Fresh Organic Black Pepper to the Bowl
- Mix the Ingredients of the bowl
- Add in the bread cubes .. toss and then transfer to the baking sheet using a slotted metal spoon in order to drain any excessive oil. This may take several batches
- Spread the bread cubes evenly on the baking sheet as a single layer (you may need to bake more than one batch). Don’t pack in or all sides won’t get the heat and those cubes will remain soggy.
- Place in the oven and bake until golden brown (about 15 min).
There you have it, signature croutons to bring your salads a few notches above the rest.
