What a week it’s been ….. Yahoo who handles the web hosting for my business has gone from bad to really..really bad. So I’ve been scrambling trying to learn web design in CSS and rebuilding the site for a new hosting service. Di even had this party-ish thing that I had to bag out of…sheesh.. Anyway, whining really didn’t make me feel better before, so I got some So Delicious Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert (aka Soy Ice Cream). And here’s the deal.. It cost me $4.69 for a quart (four cups). However, when I opened it up [...click to contimue reading...]
I’ve been missing in action for about a week due to tax time (and last weekend Diane collared me to have one day of fun .. she’s taking her 5th grade class camping this week so she needed time to hang out. .. so we hung out). Anyway, during all of this I needed some adventure so I picked up some Horizon Organic Yogurt (fat free) for the first time. Here’s the deal. .. Ingredients are Organic grade A pasteurized nonfat milk, fructan (NutraFlora, a natural dietary fiber), pectin, live and active cultures (S.thermophillus, L. bulgaricus, [...click to contimue reading...]
Had a hankering for some chocolate today, .. actually was sauntering around the organic isle at the local grocery when I saw someone offering samples of dark chocolate, .. like a little kid, I see it and I want it. So anyway, bought a Newman’s Own Organic Sweet Dark Chocolate Bar. And since I’m staying away from dairy and gluten first checked the label. This thing contains Organic Dark Chocolate (Organic Sugar, Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin and Organic Vanilla). It looks good on the surface but they add that it may [...click to contimue reading...]
Who was the evil genius who invented the carrot cake? This is an oily, sugar filled concoction that even uses a fat based frosting (mere sugar wouldn’t do). .. But, you have to admit, it tastes out of control good. .. That is, when it’s done well. You know over the course of the years I’ve spent on this planet I’ve learned a few things and one of them is that a “carrot cake” that has this cute little orange frosting carrot on top should be avoided like poison ivy. … So ours is decedent, [...click to contimue reading...]

This isn’t a sweet icing rather it’s one that all about rich chocolate flavor… This is good for cakes, cupcakes you name it. You can also sweeten this up a bit through the addition of some unrefined granulated sugar…However, try to go light on this because you don’t want to overshadow the chocolate which is the real star of the show.
The One Egg Cake is something I was forced to make when younger because “eggs were expensive”, but that was no problem since the cake tasted great..Don’t even get me started about Mr. Potato Head (serious). You see when we were in the mood for something great you’d just pull out a few pans and before you knew it you were feasting on warm, fresh cake. It really doesn’t take too long and for most of the time it’s in the oven baking. And it’s pretty cool that the smell of the cake can be [...click to contimue reading...]
We bought a box of the Nature’s Path Toaster Pastries to see if they’d measure up..here’s the highlights of what we found… USDA Organic Labeling…Good! Pretty good nutrition but God knows why all toaster pastries are such high calories (200 for these) but that’s typical for the product category. But no cholesterol. Sure beats bacon & eggs. Easy to make. Pop in the toaster on low setting. Smell awesome. Taste very, very nice…Not over the top sweet. Flavor like a home made pie crust. Hint of blueberry and great frosting flavor…And warm..Very nice treat. In [...click to contimue reading...]
Everyone it seems loves a good muffin. And why not? They are warm, taste great and they give you that great carb treat without being too sweet. But…the muffins we see at the local stores have God knows what in them and we don’t always have enough time for scratch baking. So we purchased a box or Dr. Oetker’s Organic Apple Cinnamon Muffin Mix to see if this is a possible solution. Well, first things first, the box predominately displays the USDA Organic Label in the front and on the rear we learn that the [...click to contimue reading...]
I’m a bit of an Ice Cream Addict. I love the taste, the coolness, the sweetness and creaminess. Absolutely love it. But I’m not too crazy about the cholesterol it dumps into my system and ultimately on the inside of my veins. They weren’t kidding when they said death by chocolate. So in a search for a healthier alternative we bought some So Delicious Organic Chocolate Velvet “Ice Cream”. This stuff has 130 calories vs the 300 for Ben and Jerry’s (B&J’s) New York Super Chunk, it has 0 mgs cholesterol vs. 35 for B&J’s [...click to contimue reading...]
